Quick answer
The Lasgun evolves into the Meltagun with the Gauntlet passive — max the Lasgun, keep a Gauntlet in your build, open a boss chest. Two community charts agree; Auroch hasn't published it. Before evolving, upgrading the Lasgun already adds extra Cadian Shock Troopers to Kozlowski's squad (official Oct 21 post).

Trooper Kozlowski starts with it. The Squad System post says upgrading his Lasgun “brings in additional Cadian Shocktroopers to support him”, and each follower adds to the Black Templars Castellan’s damage — Auroch’s own suggested combo is Castellan + Kozlowski.
