What “squad” means instead
The game’s “allies” are AI followers from the Squad system: pick up a weapon your champion can’t wield and a follower appears to use it. That’s the closest thing to a party at launch.

Quick answer
No co-op and no multiplayer at launch. Auroch's official FAQ: at launch the focus is single-player, and if multiplayer is added later the community will be notified. The Steam page lists Single-player only, with full controller support. Crossplay therefore doesn't apply; cross-save is only listed for Xbox Play Anywhere (Xbox and PC via the Xbox store).

Auroch hasn't committed. The FAQ only promises to tell players if multiplayer is added. Vampire Survivors added local co-op post-launch, which is why people ask.
There's nothing to cross-play — the game is single-player.
